PRIVACY

Short version: we hold almost nothing, and 48 hours after the show we hold nothing at all.

What we store

Your badge number and its four-digit code. An email address, only if you gave one when you bought your ticket. The messages you write, the intent you picked, and any contact details you chose to attach. Posts and claims on the missed connections board. Reports you make.

No names, no photos, no uploads, no location, no advertising or tracking cookies. We keep aggregate counts only — never anything that profiles you individually.

How long

The site opens at 11:00 the morning after the show and closes 48 hours later. At closing time every guest number, code, email, message, board post and report for that show is deleted from the live database. What remains is a line with counts and no content.

Encrypted infrastructure backups roll off on the hosting provider's short retention cycle, after which no copy exists anywhere.

Conduct

Messages between guests are private and we do not read them as a matter of course. Stay polite. If somebody reports a message or a board post, the Boom Chicago team can read it, can remove it, and can block a number from sending anything else.

Missed Connections posts are visible only to logged-in guests of the live show, not to the public internet. Other guests can read the descriptions you post there.

Who is responsible

Boom Chicago is the data controller and decides what happens here. Hosting and database providers act as processors on Boom Chicago's instructions, under the GDPR and Dutch implementing law. Consent for this service is captured when you buy your ticket, not on this site.

You can ask for your data to be deleted early, or ask what is held about your number, by mailing Boom Chicago. In practice, waiting 48 hours has the same effect.

Back

Keep it kind. Anything reported can be read by the Boom Chicago team, offensive messages get removed and numbers can be blocked.
